• medical: Some surgical instruments melt or degrade under heat sterilization. Low-temperature sterilization with activated oxygen species spares them.
• materials: Blowing ordinary air into a furnace wastes fuel heating useless nitrogen. Oxygen-enriched air reaches the temperature with less fuel.
• electronics: Washing organic residue off semiconductor surfaces with solvents creates liquid waste. Active oxygen produced by ultraviolet light burns the residue off instead.
• everyday: Densely stocked fish farms run short of dissolved oxygen. Dissolving pure oxygen instead of air tops it up with less equipment.
